Ms. Nair, who began her movie career with the hit Malayalam movie ‘Ishtam’ in 2001 and went on to win the State Best Actress award the following year for her performance in ‘Nandanam’, has around five yet-to-be completed films in her bag as she tied the knot with Mr. Menon, vice-president of a Mumbai-based exporting firm and son of Narayana and Shantha Menon, originally hailing from Changanassery in Kottayam district.

Hyderabad, Nov 27 (IANS) Well-known Telugu director Teja is on the lookout for a 18-year-old boy to play the lead role in his film 'Atu Itu'.

''Atu Itu' is an unusual love story. It is about a teenaged girl who falls in love with a boy who leads a luckless life. What follows in the movie thereafter is a gripping tale of trials and inexplicable emotions,' said Teja in a press statement.

He says that the boy should look innocent and his height should be between 5.7' and 5.9'. 'Atu Itu' is being produced by Jayam movies and it will launch 40 new faces.

'The film will provide an opportunity to the aspirant actors to showcase their talent and make a mark as the subject is quite intense. We will be shooting the film around the picturesque locales of Pondicherry and we expect the shooting to be completed within two months,' said Teja.

He says in case the main lead is not finalised, he will launch the movie with other cast members.

'We will begin shooting for the film early December. The shooting will start as per schedule with other cast members,' said Teja.

Gokulam Gopalan’s Mammootty- Sarath Kumar epic in Malayalam Pazhassi Raja, directed by veteran Hariharan has turned out to be a mega hit in Malayalam.

The film which released on October 16 has grossed an amazing Rs 2.72 crore from 125 screens in Kerala during the Diwali weekend (Oct 16 to 18), a new box-office record.

It is also the highest ever three day opening collection for any film in Kerala.

Says Gokulam Praveen, the co-producer of the film: “It is truly amazing the way the film has opened and is being received by the public in Kerala. Everybody seems to like the film and the word of mouth is so good that it may turn out to be a mega blockbuster.”

The bi-lingual Tamil version of Pazhassi Raja will release on November 6 all over Tamil Nadu.

Namitha, who has a way with the media, was at her charming best in the recent interaction. "How can I be angry with my machans (brothers-in-law)" was the expected dialogue, knowing Namitha's fondness for that word.

When the prying media was keen on her opinion to Nayantara's remark that actresses are jealous of each other, Namitha said she could not agree with that more. “But I have no such problems,” the buxom star added.

Questions on Namitha's future plans brought the reply, “I could venture into production and begin with my movies. It is too early to think on those lines.”

Jaganmohini was her dream role and she is happy to have performed well. Two movies in Telugu and one in Kannada will keep her occupied for the next few months.

Not heading to Bollywood, Namitha said she would be prefer to remain a queen rather than getting lost in a crowd.

Aadhavan Movie Review

Expectations and hopes were high on filmmaker K S Ravikumar especially after the stupendous hit 'Dasavatharam'. The director who is considered a man with the Midas touch in Kollywood, has tried to live up to all expectations in 'Aadhavan'. He succeeds in his attempts partially.

'Aadhavan' is nothing but a rehash of several yesteryear flicks but the USP is the racy script by Ravikumar, who mesmerises the audience with quick narration. Though it is one of the regular mainstream commercial cinema, what sets it part from other films is that Suriya dons the protagonist.

One of the young breed of actors, he is the one who always experiments with his movies and never shy to take risks. This time too, he has taken all responsibility on his shoulders. The huge star cast including Nayanthara, Saroja Devi and Murali besides Vadivelu makes it an interesting fare.

The movie revolves around an assassin Aadhavan (Surya), who can kill anyone for money. His father (Shiyaji Shinde) strikes a deal with Abdul (Rahul Dev) as per which Aadhavan is directed to kill a magistrate (Murali).

Unfortunately the magistrate survives the murder bid. Aadhavan now plans otherwise. He decides to finish his assignment by bumping off the magistrate in a house, when he decides to spend his holidays with his family.

Unfortunately all his plans to kill the magistrate fails every time. Lady luck seems to be on the magistrate’s side. Eventually Aadhavan takes a different route to finish him off. Does he succeed or not is the rest of the script which has got a twist in it.

All credits to Suriya. The actor who shot the bull’s eye with stylish flicks like 'Khaakha Khaakha' and 'Varanam Ayiram' has proved that he can excel in mass masala ventures too. The young actor has also proved that he can not just emote well, but dance and fight well too.

In other words, he has announced the arrival of mass hero in him. Suriya has played a 10-year-old boy for a flashback portion in the movie, which would give your eyebrows many a reason to raise with surprise.

Nayanthara looks pretty and her onscreen chemistry with Suriya is good. Saroja Devi returns after a decade to play a substantial role. Murali (who is no more) fits the bill well while Shayaji Shinde has nothing much to do onscreen. Hogging all is limelight is Vadivelu. He occupies maximum screen space to bring the roof down with laughter.

Harris Jeyaraj’s musical score is impressive especially 'Hasiliyae Fisliyae...', while his background score is average. The story by Ramesh Khanna could have been more interesting had the director added more suspense and twists in the screenplay.

There are sequences which are far from logic and stunt sequences defying logic. But Ravikumar has no pretensions as he sounded clear from the first frame that it is a movie for the masses. Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies, Adhavan is a movie that would bring joy to mass action lovers and front-benchers.

The hot and happening Sunaina is in trouble following her comments that a body double had been used by the producers and the hero, Jeya Akash, of her debut film in Tamil, Madan, which is yet to be released.

The actress had told the press, “It’s not me in the stills of Madan. They have used a body double and done it to cash in on my current status.”

Sunaina of Kathalil Vizhunthen and Masilamani fame saw her past catching up when hot bedroom scenes featuring her with Jeya Akash, were used in the promotion of Madan, which is ready for release.

Her explanation was simple. “I was young and naive at 15 when I was signed to do the film as Jeya Akash’s heroine. I had worked only for a day. Later, they replaced me with another heroine,” she had reportedly said.

Now, the latest we hear is that Jeya Akash has filed a complaint with the Nadigar Sangam and the Tamil Film Producers Council and has also sent her a legal notice.

Talking exclusively to CT, Jeya Akash said, “Yes. I have sent a legal notice and also filed complaints with the artistes association and producers council against Sunaina for levelling allegations against me that are defamatory in nature. The allegations have tarnished my image and I want a public apology from her as I have the necessary evidence to prove that she did those scenes and that the scenes were shot with her consent.”

Akash says that Madan was her first Tamil film. He claims that it was he who brought Sunaina, a struggling artiste then in Telugu, to Tamil. However, he says that halfway through the project, she got disinterested as there was one more heroine in the film. She had initially done six call sheets continuously with Akash.

Says the angry actor, “I had a proper agreement and contract with her and shot these bedroom scenes which were very crucial for the story. I got injured during the shoot of this film. So, further shooting was postponed. During this time, she asked me permission to go and shoot for Kathalil Vizhunthen and I agreed, though she had an exclusive contract with us. After the release of KV, she just ditched Madan and is now spreading tales that we did her scenes with a double.”

HC clears decks for release of Kamal Haasan's film

Chennai, Sep 17 (PTI) The Madras High Court today declined to stay tomorrow's release of a film of Kamal Haasan against whom an entertainment firm had filed a suit alleging breach of contract.

Haasan starrer 'Unnaipol Oruvan', a bi-lingual film, is slated to release tomorrow.

"The film may be released on September 18," Justice G Rajasuriya said in his order on a petition filed by Pyramid Saimira Productions International Ltd. (PSPIL) seeking to restrain Rajkamal Films of Kamal Haasan and his brother Chandra Haasan from releasing the movie till an amount of Rs 7.82 crore, which it claimed was due to it, was recovered.

The Judge directed the respondents (Kamal Haasan and Chandra Haasan) to furnish a security to the extent of half of the suit amount (Rs 3.

Chennai: Malayalam superstar Mammootty and Tamil star Sarath Kumar inaugurated the website for their forthcoming release, Pazhassi Raja in Chennai on Tuesday. But the focus was clearly on a collaboration of a different kind.

Tamil and Malayalam stars sharing screen space seems to be the trend of the season. If Mohanlal and Kamal Hassan have teamed up for Unnaippoal Oruvan, then Mammooty and Sarath are coming together after all most 19 years, for the historical drama Pazhassi Raja.

This story of the legendary Malayali prince, who died fighting the British made at a budget of about Rs 30 crore, is perhaps one of the most expensive films in Malayalam. While Mammootty plays the lead role of the Malayali prince and Sarath plays his warrior in the film.

"I'm really happy to have done this character which suited me very well because of my built. When they told me the script, I really liked it as a warrior and it had all the nuances, the action scenes, the emotions, the performance and working with Mammootty was a great experience for me," said Sarath.

"I don't feel any difference working with any of my co-actors. I'm very friendly with everybody. Even if I act with anybody and we know each other very well. Even when I started my Tamil films, he was there with me and I'm comfortable with all actors and they are comfortable with me," added Sarath.

Mammooty had his take on southern film productions having dominated the 55th National Awards, picking up the key awards.

"We make the better films I think, we make more films. See last time in the Indian Panorama-there were 21 films to be included in the Panorama and seven Malayalam films, that is one third, we are there," said Mammootty.

Talking about his films in the future, Mammootty said, "I'm doing a film with Arjun that is Aruvadai. That is a new direction by Pankaj productions. That is already almost finished."

And what about the other projects in the actor's kitty right now?

"I've already finished a film with Shaji N Karun, a film called Loudspeaker with Jayaraj, another film with a midnight murder story, Paleri Manickam it's again a period film. We have done a film called Kerala Café, which has ten stories put together; I'm there in one story. And I'll be joining for Chattambi Raja on Wednesday," he said.

Now that sounds like a treat for all Mammootty fans!

Good spoofs are hard to come by, but director Shashanka Ghosh's Quick Gun Murugun is a rare exception. Based on the iconic Channel [V] character created in the mid-nineties by Ghosh himself and writer Rajesh Devraj, the Tamilian cowboy in bright orange pants has now crossed over to the big screen for a full-length feature.

The plot itself is ridiculously simple. While protecting a village from a villain known as Rice Plate Reddy who's determined on turning every Udipi restaurant into a non-vegetarian establishment, our hero Murugun (played by Telugu star Rajendra Prasad) ends up getting shot and killed. Thanks to a lifetime of devotion towards vegetarianism, Murugun is reincarnated as himself, and sets out to find his old nemesis who's currently involved in kidnapping South Indian mummies so he can find the perfect dosa recipe. He finds an unlikely ally in Mango Dolly, the buxom moll of Rice Plate Reddy, and together they work on vanquishing the bad guy.

Packed with clever one-liners, bursting with popular film references, and turning every South Indian cliche on its head, the makers of this film deliver a wildly exaggerated but immensely amusing picture that's well worth your time. One of my favourite scenes in the film is a standoff between our cowboy and the villain's top henchman in a traffic-packed street where both must walk on top of cars and even commuter's heads while taking ten paces back before firing their rounds. It's mad scenarios like these, in addition to the hilarious dialogue that make this film hard not to like.

But 90 minutes is too long for a spoof. The jokes tend to get repetitive in the film's second half and the energy begins to wane. Fifteen minutes shorter, and a few indulgences less, this might have been an extraordinary watch.

In its current form though, it's still a barrel of laughs. I'm going with three out of five and a thumbs up for director Shashanka Ghosh's Quick Gun Murugun. If all you're looking for is a relaxed time at the movies, then believe me, this is Good Fun Murugun.

Mumbai, Feb 11 (IANS) In a move to appease the Hairdressers' Associations of Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan is planning to invite various barbers and hairstylists for the premiere of 'Billu', which was earlier titled 'Billu Barber'.

'As far as I know, Shah Rukh is planning a premiere for the various barbers and hairdressers' associations, so they'd see and know that the film doesn't ridicule them in any way. In fact, the film is a homage to the hair-cutting technique. I can't understand how there can be a protest about the film or its title without anyone seeing the film,' Priyadarshan told IANS.

According to Priyadarshan, Shah Rukh is not inviting friends from the industry for the screening.

The film was earlier titled 'Billu Barber', but when Hairdressers' Associations of Mumbai objected to the use of the word 'barber' in the title, Shah Rukh, who is producing the film and making a guest appearance, decided to change it.

'I'm in Chennai. Shah Rukh Khan tells me all the posters hoarding with credits will blacken out the word 'barber'. If it was hurting anyone's sentiments, I'm okay by it,' Priyadarshan said.

He wonders how the word 'barber' could be okay in other languages and not in Hindi.

'Does it mean half the Indian population is not put off by the title and the other half is upset about it? I don't understand the controversy. And I've left it entirely to Shah Rukh to deal with it.'

Bangalore, Feb 7 (IANS) Kannada film star Vinod Raj and his mother, veteran actress and producer Leelavathi, Saturday said there had been a murderous attack on them. The police were probing the incident.

Vinod Raj and Leelavathi said they were were travelling in their car along with their manager Nagaraj here when there was a loud noise near the vehicle at 9.40 a.m., shattering the windows of the car.

'This is the third incident (of attack). A few years ago a person entered our farm house in Nelamangala with a fully loaded gun. We apprehended him and handed over to police. Then our car was attacked near our distribution and production office by unknown assailants. We had complained to the police in both cases. But this incident has really shocked us,'' Leelavathi told media persons.

Bangalore City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari said there were no gun shots fired. 'Ballistic experts say the tainted glass which has been broken show no elements of lead. Vinod Raj and Leelavathi have told us they don't suspect anybody,' the police official told reporters.

The producers of Slumdog Millionaire are reportedly going to launch a British television spinoff , in which millionaires will visit Mumbai slums to help poor families , a British newspaper reported recently. The new show, called Secret Slumdog Millionaire, also takes its name from a successful British television show Secret Millionaire, in which wealthy businessmen and women move incognito into poor communities and select a person or project for charity.

Episodes often end in tears of joy when the ‘secret millionaires’ reveal themselves to grateful recipients. The planned Slumdog TV series is the brainchild of the co-producers of the Oscar-nominated film who also make the popular television quiz show which inspired the plot for the movie. The newspaper reported that the producers are set to announce the new series soon and are aiming to broadcast it, “as soon as possible to cash in the enormous popularity of the movie” . A television insider told the paper, “It’s a fantastic idea....The millionaires who sign up will see real poverty in Mumbai and it is going to be very moving when they reveal their identity and offer these people help.”

The producers however, are aware that this move may attract criticism, as the source says, “They are bracing themselves against charges that they are cashing in on poverty, but the bottomline is they will actually be helping people, as well as making a great TV show.” Secret Slumdog Millionaire is the working title of the show, and could be changed later.

Shah Rukh gives Priyanka more screen space in 'Billu Barber'

Mumbai, Jan 29 (IANS) If Priyanka Chopra declares from the rooftops that she is Shah Rukh Khan's biggest fan then it is with reason. The superstar, who has been taking more than a passing interest in the music of the films he produces, decided to give away a large portion of his duet in 'Billu Barber' to her.

'Shah Rukh took very close interest in each one of the songs. He isn't a musician, but he has an instinctive ear for music. It takes him just a few seconds to approve or cut down a track,' composer Pritam Chakraborty told IANS.

With the songs meant for Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Pritam faced no problems.

'Shah Rukh loved his songs with Kareena ('Marjani') and Deepika ('Love mera hit hit'). They were straightforward dance songs with shared grooves between Shah Rukh and Kareena and Deepika,' said Pritam.

The song with Priyanka needed special treatment and Shah Rukh made Pritam re-work and re-record the song.

'Shah Rukh's song with Priyanka 'Khuda-ae-kher' is not an item song. It's a love ballad that the pair playing Bollywood superstars emote to in front of the camera. Being a love song Shah Rukh felt there wasn't enough of the female presence in the vocals. He made me re-record the song with more for the female vocalist (Dominique) to do since he wanted Priyanka to have an equal number of lines,' the composer said.

'It was entirely Shah Rukh's idea to give Priyanka more lines in the song. He's a very generous entertainer. If you see him on screen he never tries to steal the limelight from his heroines. Even 'Khai ke paan banaras wala' in 'Don' had a lot of Priyanka in it although it was entirely Shah Rukh's song,' Pritam added.

Asked about Shah Rukh's generosity, Priyanka sighed and said: 'What do I say? Now do you know why he's my favourite?'

Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta, who play a rustic couple in 'Billu Barber', will later be seen enacting the same Shah Rukh-Priyanka ballad.

Kolkata, Jan 5 (IANS) He is the eldest son of illustrious Indian magician P.C. Sorcar. But unlike his father, Manick Sorcar chose to weave magic with animation and laser.

After devoting 17 years to animation and laser, Colorado-based Sorcar wants to take forward his passion and set up an institute in Kolkata.

'I want to set up a laser institute in Kolkata... it's going to be my dream project. It will be an educational institute-cum-entertainment zone,' Sorcar told reporters at the launch here Monday evening of a book on him titled 'World of Manick Sorcar, where art becomes magic'.

Speaking about the laser institute, Sorcar said it would be an ideal place for animation and laser artists -- both experienced and novice.

'A section of the laser institute will be used for educational purposes where interested people will learn about laser art, danger of laser, how to manipulate live action with animation and laser, as well as have practical training. It will open a new profession altogether.

'Illumination engineering students from Jadavpur University too will be able to get practical knowledge about the subject.'

Meanwhile, the entertainment section will be kept solely for interaction of laser and animation artists from across the country.

'Hundreds of laser artists and animators will showcase their talent. Even novices will get a chance to showcase their talent,' Sorcar said.

Although he has all his plans ready to be executed, Sorcar is still awaiting the nod of West Bengal government for the project.

'I am in talks with the Information Technology (IT) minister Debes Das and he is very optimistic about the project. I have requested him to give me at least 10 acres land. As soon as I get a nod from the government I will start working on it,' Sorcar said.

However, talking about lack of popularity of Indian animation in comparison to western ones, Sorcar said it is a myth.

'Indian animation may lack popularity in India. But in western countries, especially in America, they are very much in demand. In fact I work on Indian fables like 'Panchatantra', 'Thakurmar Jhuli' and 'Abol Tabol'.'

'Gulama' - great dialogues, but ordinary fare

'Gulama' is the directorial debut of young Tushar Ranganath, who has written the scripts and dialogues for many Kannada films earlier. Also, since it is this year's first release, specially being a much publicised film by top producer Ramu, audiences had certain expectations from 'Gulama'.

But the film has a weak narration. Ranganath has tried to portray the film as realistically as possible, but he hasn't been able to make an impact as far as its emotional content is concerned.

Ranganath's core strength always lay in writing dialogues. The dialogues in 'Gulama' are crisp and hard hitting, but they lack freshness.

Most of the characters in 'Gulama' look real. The typical representatives of the lower middle class households are seen in this film, which is essentially a triangular love story in the backdrop of Bangalore's underworld.

On the positive side, the dialogues are natural and bring the different characters and their backgrounds alive on screen. Ranganath knows the diction and peculiarity of Bangalore-based gangsters and he uses this effectively in many sequences.

But he fails to do justice to the movie's emotional content. Even the climax sequences, which are high on emotional quotient, fall flat because of an insipid narration.

The story revolves around Anil, who is the son of a police driver. His neighbour Divya loves him, but Anil is drawn towards the beautiful Priyanka, who wants to make it big in the glamour world. Anil does not reveal his feelings to Priyanka, but confides in Divya instead.

The plot takes a turn when Anil comes in contact with members of Mafi Gowda's gang, which attacks his father. An enraged Anil decides to join hands with Gowda's rivals to eliminate him. He then becomes a target not only for Gowda's gang members, but also the police.

Despite being hunted by the police and gangsters, Anil does everything to please Priyanka and even arranges for money to finance her trip to Mumbai. Finally, Priyanka comes from Mumbai and plead with Anil to marry Divya, who loves him deeply.

It is a good role for Prajwal Devaraj, but he excels only in the fight and dance sequences. He is found wanting in the emotional scenes. The Mumbai-based model looks glamorous, but has few opportunities to show her acting skills. Sonu too has to pick up the threads of acting. Rangayana Raghu impresses in a brief yet different role.

Surprisingly, music director Guru Kiran's tunes are just average. However, cameraman Vishnuvardhan deserves appreciation for his work.

'Gulama' ends up as an ordinary film despite its sparkling dialogues.

New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS) Yesteryear's he-man of Bollywood, Dharmendra, will make his small screen debut Friday with an episode of Zee TV's music reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'.

The 73-year-old star was invited as a special guest for the show, said a press release.

Dharmendra, who starred in hit films like 'Sholay', 'The Burning Train', 'Seeta Aur Geeta' and 'Chupke Chupke' apart from many others in his career spanning over four decades, was given a red carpet welcome amid loud Punjabi tom-toms and a crowd that showered him with flowers.

Much to everyone's surprise, the actor broke into a jig and even recited Urdu couplets.

For the episode, all contestants and mentors paid a tribute to his films and some of his unforgettable songs. He even joined a contestant on stage to sing his popular song 'Ab ke sajan saawan mein' from 'Chupke Chupke'.

When Oman-based contestant Asma Rafi came posing as the iconic Basanti of 'Sholay' and sung 'Jab tak hai jaan', Dharmendra encouraged her by reciting his famous dialogue from the film. He also performed the suicide scene from the 1975 film and had everyone in splits.

The mentors, music directors Shankar Mahadevan, Aadesh Srivastava, Himesh Reshammiya and Pritam Chakraborty gifted Dharmendra a silver statue of Ganesha and Shiva as a mark of respect.

The episode will air at 10 p.m.

Salman has been voted as the number-one role model of health in the entertainment category by the public of India, in a one-of-its-kind survey conducted by the 'Complete Wellbeing magazine'. So in the ongoing war of the two Khans,

India's choice when it comes to health seems to be Salman Khan with 26 per cent votes. Shah Rukh got 24 per cent votes. That's not bad given that John Abraham had to suffice with a meagre four per cent.

After a fortnight of playing to near empty cinemas, Bollywood is breathing a sigh of relief as a new Shah Rukh Khan film pulls in audiences in a city still recovering from November's deadly attacks.

Cinema audiences in movie-mad Mumbai fell to a trickle in the aftermath of last month's terror attack.

"People were so scared and the mood was so low that watching a movie at a theatre was out of the question," said industry analyst Amod Mehra.

"In the last two weeks, theatres have been running empty, more so in Mumbai, but also in the rest of the country."

But Khan, Bollywood's most bankable star, has worked his magic at the box-office.

In his new romantic comedy, he plays a boring introvert who gets a makeover, turning into a snazzy dancer to woo his wife.

Reviews for 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' have been far from glowing but that hasn't stopped audiences from flocking to cinemas to see the 43-year-old Khan in action.

"Our theatres were full at around 60 per cent on Friday and then went up to around 85 per cent over the weekend," said Shonali Shroff of Fame Cinemas.

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 17 (IANS) Malayalam film superstar Mammootty, who has just returned from a two-day Dubai trip, Wednesday said that he had assured the full support of the Malayalam film industry to develop the Arabian cinema industry.

'The Arabian film industry is a growing one and they need a helping hand in expertise and technical know-how. We have assured the support of the Malayalam film industry by conducting workshops there,' Mammootty, who was in the UAE city to attend the Dubai International Film Festival, told IANS.

The veteran actor said that he had held talks on conducting workshops with the 'Studio City' officials in Dubai.

Studio City in Dubai is part of the Smart City group that is to build the Rs.15 billion Smart City Kochi, a mega IT project that would create 90,000 new jobs.

'I had a detailed discussion with the CEO of Studio City and they will get back to us on the modalities of working together. If it clicks, it is going to be an additional work for the technicians of our industry here,' Mammootty added.

U.K. dance show marks comeback for pop singer

LONDON (Billboard) – By her own admission, October 2006 was a "dark time" for U.K. pop singer Alesha Dixon.

Dropped by her record label in the same month she split from her husband, U.K. urban star MC Harvey, the former member of hit-making R&B girl group Mis-Teeq suddenly found herself unemployed, with her private life splashed all over the tabloid press.

But two years on, Dixon is again riding high on the U.K. charts thanks to her winning turn on BBC 1's "Strictly Come Dancing," the U.K. version of "Dancing With the Stars."

"The Boy Does Nothing," written by Dixon and pop production powerhouse Xenomania, debuted at No. 8 on the U.K. singles chart earlier this month on downloads alone. An album, "The Alesha Show," follows November 24 on Asylum/Atlantic.

"Even though that period was very difficult, part of me feels like I was meant to go through it," says the 30-year-old artist. "I don't believe I could have made this album had I not been through that."

After her "Strictly" triumph, Dixon found herself in high demand, even receiving an offer from Universal, the label that dropped her in 2006. Eventually accepting a four-album deal with Asylum, she set to work with a hit team of songwriter/producers, including prolific Los Angeles writer Diane Warren.

According to Asylum/Atlantic marketing consultant Lou Hart, the resulting album ideally suits Dixon's across-the-board appeal. "We have four clear markets we are appealing to: teen girls, teen boys, 35-40-plus women and the gay audience," Hart says.

The promotional campaign for "The Alesha Show" began October 18 when Dixon returned to "Strictly" to perform, and continues through December with U.K. in-store, TV and radio appearances. Dixon is also set to perform at Miss World 2008, held December 13 in Johannesburg. Atlantic's Warner Music parent hopes to release the album in January across Europe, and in the United States next spring.

"Because people have given me a second chance, it's energized everything," Dixon says with a smile. "Winning ("Strictly") lifted my spirits -- it got a different audience to know who I am as a person and put me in a far stronger position."

New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS) Former beauty queen Diana Hayden, who was voted out of TV reality show 'Bigg Boss' Friday, has blamed co-participants Rahul Mahajan and Monica Bedi for making the game 'very dirty'.
'The dirtiest game is being played by Rahul and Monica. They have no values or scruples,' Diana, who managed to stay in the 'Bigg Boss' house for eight weeks, told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

'I had the most amazing six weeks on the show, but the last two weeks got very dirty. Rahul never liked me because he knew that I could see what he was doing. They (Monica and Rahul) believed in doing everything for the camera. Fine you want to win, but its wrong to encourage fights, lie, and forget your values to win a game,' she added.

Diana, who was a late entrant in the show, entered the 'Bigg Boss' house mid-September. Diana, who won the Miss World crown in 1997, said her stay in the house was a welcome break for her.

Producers’ hero Venkatesh will be launching his next film on January 25, 2009. The untitled film which is being produced by Giri, will be co-produced by D. Suresh Babu and directed by Srinu Vaitla. The word is that Ileana, one of the current reigning queens of Tollywood who was slated to star in this movie, is no longer in the team. Though the reason for this change is not known, insiders say a newcomer may be Venkatesh’s heroine. With this news, many of Ileana’s fans, who were hoping to see her romance Venkatesh onscreen, will now be disappointed. Ileana, who went on a long sabbatical after the Pawan Kalyan starrer Jalsa’s release, is on the comeback trail. In the meanwhile, Venkatesh is said to be portraying the role of a Brahmin priest in his cameo role in Kamal Haasan’s Marmayogi.

Actress and director Nandita Das arrived at Trivandrum on Friday to attend a function organised by a private Management studies firm. She said that she would shortly come to Trivandrum to represent the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) as a director. Her debut film Firaque has been selected for IFFK. She said that in the past she had been here to attend IFFK as an actress. This time it is as a director. “I like the opinion of Malayalees. The theme Firaque is about Gujarat riot. It projects the relationship and mentality of people after the riot”. Malayalees are familiar with Nandita as she had acted I several Malayalam movies including the Jayaraj directed Kannaki. She has also made a mark in other South Indian languages like Tamil and Telugu.
